Another cute shop in Koenji. Malto is a lifestyle store that carries European antique-style household products. I was surprised how affordable some of the items are. They have also successfully converted a old Japanese house into a charming interior shop.

Koenji is one of my favorite towns in Tokyo. I used to live there for about 4 years and this week I decided to revisit the neighborhood. Koenji is well-known for its vintage clothing shops and live pubs but in the recent years, more zakka shops and cafes have sprung up in the area. It looks a lot more vibrant than before. I started my visit with a nice lunch at Hattifnatt Cafe.
As the raining season has started in Tokyo, the cafe was decorated with paper Teru Teru Bozu made by their customers. What a cute idea!
I couldn’t resist making one too!

★ How to get there
During the mt factory tour period, a few of the rooms at the Ivy Square Hotel at Kurashiki were converted into ‘mt rooms’. I was excited to stay in a mt tape hotel room for the first time. The hotel had a very classic/retro interior. Just like the mt factory tour bus, it was an interesting mix of the old and the new.
I was thrilled to find a set of limited edition tape on the table together with a ‘thank you’ note.
I can’t really capture the greatness of these silver and gold fold printed tapes but they are simply amazing!
My new business card designed/produced by my talented friend HL from Lazy Jane! Gold hot stamp on one side and neon pink on the other. I made a cardholder with my favorite tapes to go with it!
HL also helped me with the lovely gift tags for our store. Love them! Thanks pal!!
Sorry for my absence! I was away on a work trip to Hong Kong and China to review some samples last week. Unfortunately, I am back with some food poisoning and haven’t been able to do much. Hope to recover soon! Here are some pictures taken in Soho, Hong kong. Lots of cute alleys, small shops and nice cafes I’d like to check out someday…
