mt factory tour part 4 : mt hotel room

mtroom2
During the mt factory tour period, a few of the rooms at the Ivy Square Hotel at Kurashiki were converted into ‘mt rooms’. I was excited to stay in a mt tape hotel room for the first time. The hotel had a very classic/retro interior. Just like the mt factory tour bus, it was an interesting mix of the old and the new.

I was thrilled to find a set of limited edition tape on the table together with a ‘thank you’ note.

I can’t really capture the greatness of these silver and gold fold printed tapes but they are simply amazing!

One of the highlights at the mt factory tour was the mt store. New products such as mt CASA and mt tape for kids were launched for the first time. There were also lots of very special limited edition tapes that I couldn’t resist! Above are the cute shopping baskets we used at the store!

mt factory tour part 2 : Installation art by Asai Yusuke

mtart2

One of the event space at the mt factory was an art installation by artist Asai Yusuke. Visitors were invited to participate in his creation by adding colors with mt tapes. The daily progression of this art installation was broadcasted live on mt tape’s Ustream channel during the event period.

I was there on the first day and the space was still quite bare, check out how colorful it is now!

The journey to the mt tape factory began with a very cute tour bus coming to pick us up at the mt bus stop. I was delighted to see the interior of the bus mt-taped as well. I love the eclectic mix of mt tape and the retro fixtures in the bus!

I’m off to Kurashiki tomorrow to join the mt factory tour! Will be staying one night in the ‘mt room’ at Kurashiki Ivy Square hotel. I wonder if they will decorate the whole room with mt tapes? I love visiting factories/workshops to see what goes on behind the scenes. Despite my busy work schedule, I decided to take 2 days off as this is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to see how mt tapes are made!

Kurashiki also has some nice stationery and craft shops that I am really looking forward to. Hope to come back with some nice pictures to share!
